Getting Shirty II
With (cuff) Links
As promised here’s a few words and links to accompany Q&A #6 you know, my favourite shirts we talked about - ready to wear, made to measure and bespoke.
I’m fond of these for many reasons - convenience, the people and the places therein all rank high. Underwriting them all is their fit which happen to work for me, your miles may vary.
In no particular order…
Doihokosho A favourite quick-fire bespoke shirt of mine, the beginnings of which were crafted for me at Pitti Uomo in Florence. The result was fabulous. I didn’t think they or anyone for that matter could do better, staggered as I was by the result. We’ve had more time subsequently and they surpass themselves on each occasion. There’s something ritualistic for me in donning their shirts as a result, a responsibility if you will to wear them well. I try my best.
100 Hands Yes, they’re a pretty penny though there are 34 hours of handwork in every pretty shirt. People look for ‘attention to detail’ particularly with shirts - cross examining stitch counts and finishing etc though sometimes you just simply feel it. That’s the best way. Here’s a great example of exactly that.
Eton I love these, I have many of them and I will buy more. Enough said.
